Carol Cawley Art
WHAT MY STUDENTS SAY...
Rita Evans – Botanic, Drawing, Mixed Media
“It is with great pleasure I write this Testimonial for Carol Cawley.I have attended her Mixed Media, Drawing and Botanical classes so far. Having been to art classes elsewhere (at twice the cost) I am very confident when saying Carol's classes are exceptional.
For me, the key to Carol's success is based on a combination of factors including pre class update on what we'll be doing and materials needed; her hands-on demonstrations; her close monitoring of student progress and her constant sharing of her skills and knowledge.
There's not a person in my class who isn't thankful they discovered Carol. Without fail, I leave every class having learned something new or reinforcing previous learnings.
Finally, Carol is a bubbly character who is a joy to be around! It goes without saying I highly recommend her classes."
Nancy Seeds - Watercolour
"I have been a Love Art and Learn student now for quite a few years and I am still totally amazed and impressed at how Carol, our multi talented teacher, manages to come up with new exciting ideas, projects and techniques every time. I loved being part of the annual Hall Place Art exhibition which gave us the opportunity to display and possibly sell some of our work. The preparations and organisation took a lot of time, mostly Carol’s, but it was hugely appreciated by all her students. Looking forward to the next term. "
Stephanie Bingham – Mixed Media

Lessons are always fun and she is so helpful and encouragjng to all her students. She has an amazing enthusiasm for art which is very infectious and I have to say I really look forward to every lesson!”
Derek Cook – Portrait & Figure Drawing
“I was introduced to Carol’s classes some years ago by my daughter and I have been attending ever since Carol is an excellent tutor She puts a great amount of time and effort into her lessons Not only that she also arranges visits to exhibitions holidays and the annual exhibition She is patient positive and encouraging to all I highly recommend her classes"
Sarah Bullock – Mixed Media
"I so enjoy going to mixed media art class ran by Carol Cawley. The class is interesting and different topics every week. Carol helps her students by demonstrating and encourages everyone with their work. An exhibition is held in the summer with all students work that have entered. I was very pleased to have my work in the exhibition and we also did copies of our work in card form which proved to be successful too. "
Apsara Littlejohn - Drawing, Botanic Art
"When I started art classes with Carol, I have never done any form of art and I was completely ignorant what drawing was and the use of different media.
I started with learning to draw never having touched anything other than a HB pencil at school, as a child and soon discovered the beauty of botanical art focusing on flowers, leaves and colours.I am learning to appreciate the beauty of all plants through Carol's joy in passing on her delight and expertise to all us students.
Carol's method of teaching involves demonstration with time for questions and explaining as well as individual help and support as one needs.
She has patience of a saint and never makes one feel unable to achieve.
I am so enjoying my new found love of art thanks to Carol and my friend who reccomended Carol's class to me.
I am looking forward to the New Year term and all the excitement it brings.
Thank you Carol for helping me find an aspect of my creativity and patience I never realised I had in me".

"Carol leads her classes at Love Art and Learn with contagious enthusiasm. All her students are equally valued and encouraged whatever their ability or experience.
The lessons are planned to give access to as many subjects, styles and materials as possible.
The art experience is further enhanced by plein aire painting trips to country houses, animal sanctuaries and galleries.
The social side of the class is catered for with lunch time gatherings, annual exhibitions and painting holidays.
I have been with this class since the beginning and rate it one of my best decisions."
Cathy Biggar – Mixed Media
"Over the years I have attended evening and adult education art classes but since joining Carol’s Love Art & Learn last year, my artwork has really improved.
Covering a variety of techniques with various mediums, practical demonstrations by Carol, all students achieve excellent and innovative work.
I particularly liked assembling collage pictures, my first one being shown in Carol’s 2024 Summer Exhibition…..success at last!
Carol is a warm outgoing person creating a ‘can do’ atmosphere in the class as can be seen by her students’ work."
Diane Doutch – Drawing, Drawing & Painting.
"I have wanted to learn to draw for years, but having a family then working never found the time, until covid and then i retired. I heard about Love Art and Learn while still working, so when i did retire i plucked up the courage to join a class. Its the best thing ive done for myself in years. I have learnt so much ,and is on going. Carol our tutor explains how to achieve the results we want with such patience and guidance. The class is friendly, easy going and supportive."
Shirley Bradford – Drawing, Botanic Art.
"I was ready to give up on my art thinking I had absolutely no talent until a friend told me about Carol and Love Art and Learn.
Best thing I ever did! Carol is the most amazing teacher and brilliant artist, I have learned so much from her and produced one of my best pieces ever!
Janet Ford – Watercolour.
"Carol is a fantastic art teacher in all mediums. She always demonstrates which is really helpful and explains fully what we will be doing in the lesson. "
Wendy Bussey – Watercolour. Art Holidays
"I have been attending Carol's art classes for some years now and found them so inspiring. Carol has an extremely friendly, very pleasant and caring disposition and this is reflected in her art classes. She is always encouraging readily supportive and assists (if necessary) and never directs. It is obvious Carol has put so much thought into the various topics she provides throughout the year. I have learnt so many new techniques and look forward to every art session. She has arranged art exhibitions for students' work. The highlight for me this year was the art retreat which Carol arranged. The planning, booking and attending to students' needs whilst there was phenomenal! A BIG THANKYOU CAROL!
Diana Stewart – Drawing, Mixed Media, Watercolour, Portrait & Figure Drawing.
"I have been attending Love Art and Learn art classes for over five years. I started with the drawing class and have experimented with watercolour, mixed media, short courses in abstract and lino cut and have more recently been attending portrait and life drawing.
For every class, Carol applies the same level of unfailing cheerful enthusiasm and support, providing direction and encouragement equally for every level of learner, from nervous beginners to experienced artists.
As each course progresses, Carol pays attention to our wants and needs and acts accordingly. In this way the courses always feel fresh and relevant and reflect our artistic interests and individual levels of learning.
All this, with bonus visits to art exhibitions and short breaks to explore art around the UK, plus the opportunity to exhibit our own work, LAAL provides the perfect environment for any potential student of art."
Roy Adams – Watercolour
"I enrolled with Carol Cawley's Love Art and Learn some two years ago. Although offering a variety of courses such as oil, acrylic ,charcoal, portrait I opted for the watercolour class and have never regretted it since.
Carol 's enthusiasm shows in the fun yet professional way she conducts all her classes, no what their ability she takes an personal interest each student's work encouraging and suggesting improvements as well as introducing different techniques.
Workshops give students an opportunity to try some of the other courses and everyone is encouraged to display and sell their work at an annual local art exhibition. In addition day workshops enable students to try some of the other courses and art weekends away are offered at attractive locations.
I fully recommend Carol Cawley's Love Art and Learn to anyone interested in starting or improving drawing and painting. It represents good value for money and you will not be disappointed."
Doreen Lampard - Drawing class.
I commenced Carol’s art classes 2 years ago, after being recommended by a friend.
It is obvious a lot of thought and preparation is made prior to our next class. Everything’s discussed and demonstrated to us at the beginning of class and Carol encourages and welcomes any questions. Using handouts too which also covers what’s being discussed.
It is a mixed ability class but no-one is made to feel awkward, as whatever we do it covers all levels. I hadn’t done art for 30 years and then only used oils, so lacking in confidence. Now learning to use all different types of mediums, some I prefer to others, and my confidence had grown.
There is such a good rapport in class, which emanates from Carol, everyone very supportive and encouraging.
All in all, an excellent tutor who makes art fun and interesting to do, and gets my recommendation any day of the week."
